Data we process: email address, password (stored only as a bcrypt hash, never in plain text), name, language, country and time zone if you provide them, the date your email was verified, the product from which you created your account, the Kai products you have opened with your account, and technical security events (sign-in date, result). In technical logs your email is stored obfuscated.
What for: to identify you to the Kai products you choose to use, to protect your account (verification, recovery, signing out of sessions), and (only if you ticked the box) to send you news about Kai products.
What we share with each product: when you continue to a product with your Cuenta Kai, that product receives your identifier, email, name, language and the verification status of your email. Nothing more. What you do inside the product is governed by that product's policy.
Providers that process data on our behalf and that our code uses: Resend, Inc. (sending the transactional verification and recovery emails) and Kai News (an email platform under the same ownership, which operates the news mailings if you gave your authorization). We use no payment gateways: Cuenta Kai charges nothing.
Email news: the registration checkbox is optional and comes unticked (prior and express authorization, Ley 1581 de 2012). We keep the date of your authorization as evidence. You can unsubscribe from the link in every email or by writing to us.
Your rights (article 8 of Colombian law Ley 1581 de 2012): (a) to know, update and rectify your data; (b) to request proof of the authorization you gave; (c) to be informed of the use that has been made of it; (d) to file complaints with the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC), Colombia's data protection authority. Write to us first: almost everything gets solved there, and the law also asks you to exhaust that step with us before going to the SIC (article 16); (e) to revoke the authorization and request the deletion of your data; (f) to access your data free of charge.
To exercise them: mauricio.zuniga@kaistrategylab.com. Deleting your Cuenta Kai removes your central identity; the data that lives inside each product is deleted under that product's policy (you can request it in the same email and we will coordinate it).
Security: passwords stored as bcrypt hashes, signed and revocable sessions, attempt limits, logs without complete personal data. The data lives on our own server contracted in a Hostinger data center.
